The Andhra Pradesh government has launched a groundbreaking two-day workshop on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies, aimed at revolutionising governance and enhancing public service delivery. Held at the State Secretariat, the event is being organised in collaboration with the Wadhwani Centre for Government Digital Transformation and brings together senior bureaucrats, department heads, and technology leaders.
Chief Secretary K Vijayanand, speaking at the inaugural session, lauded the initiative and emphasised its potential to transform governance across departments.
“This workshop on AI and related technologies is a commendable step toward integrating technology into public services,” he said. “Over 200 capacity-building programmes have already trained more than 9,000 officers and staff across the State. The next frontier is applying AI across every department to foster innovation and efficiency.”
Katamneni Bhaskar, Secretary, Information Technology, Electronics & Communications (ITE&C) Department, welcomed the participants and underscored the practical impact of the event. “Training is a continuous process, and this workshop is structured to ensure interactive, two-way communication. More than 300 use cases will be discussed, allowing officials to resolve doubts and understand AI applications deeply,” he said, adding, “This will significantly improve the quality of services delivered to the public.”
Prakash Kumar, CEO Wadhwani Centre for Government Digital Transformation, highlighted the centre’s long-standing commitment to digital transformation and skill-building. “Established two decades ago, our organisation has focused on skilling, innovation, entrepreneurship, and digital transformation,” he said. “Our goal here is to help develop senior officials like IAS, IPS, and IFS officers into AI Champions, while grooming younger officers as AI Enablers.”
He detailed successful applications of AI in government sectors, noting their impact on decision-making and efficiency. “We are already seeing AI being used effectively in education, healthcare, traffic management, grievance redressal, and infrastructure monitoring,” Kumar explained. “Technologies like FeedFab are being used for structural monitoring, and in education, AI tools are helping teachers known as Guru Mitras prepare lesson plans and deliver high-quality education.”
The workshop, which features real-world demonstrations and strategy sessions, aims to create a roadmap for AI adoption tailored to the unique challenges and opportunities in Andhra Pradesh. With sessions designed to be highly interactive, participants are encouraged to share feedback and contribute to policy recommendations that will guide AI implementation in State governance.
