Telangana is fast emerging as a major destination on the global medical tourism map, and the state government is making a concerted push to strengthen its position during the Miss World 2025 event.

As per the suggestion of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, a special orientation programme will be organised for Miss World contestants to highlight Telangana’s world-class healthcare ecosystem and its growing appeal for international health tourists.

Officials have drawn up a detailed action plan to use the Miss World platform, which will bring delegates from 120 countries and reach audiences in over 150 nations through live broadcasts.

As part of this effort, a special medical tourism event will be hosted at AIG Hospitals in Hyderabad on May 16, where contestants will be introduced to the state’s advanced medical infrastructure and affordable healthcare offerings.

Telangana has already carved a distinct identity in medical tourism, thanks to its combination of highly skilled doctors, cutting-edge technology and considerably lower treatment costs.

Government hospitals like Osmania, NIMS and MNJ Cancer Hospital, along with private giants like Apollo, Yashoda and Continental, offer a wide range of treatments. From robotic surgeries and cardiology to oncology, organ transplantation and fertility services, Telangana hospitals offer treatment at international standards at nearly 60 to 80 per cent lower cost than in the United States or Europe.

For instance, while a heart bypass surgery costs around USD 100,000 in the US, the same can be availed in Hyderabad for just 5,000 to 10,000 USD. Similarly, knee replacements that cost up to USD 60,000 in the West are done for less than USD 5,000 here. Dental procedures are done at a fraction of international costs.
