Rs 2.80 cr released for Prakasam Barrage, Krishna Right Flood Bank Road works

The State government has sanctioned Rs.2.80 crore for the Krishna Delta System for conducting renovation works on the Prakasam Barrage Road and Krishna Right Flood (KRF) Bank Road from 0.000 km to 5.000 km.

Principal Secretary to the Water Resources Department Shashi Bhushan Kumar issued G.O.RT.No.2131 in this regard on Monday.

The Prakasam Barrage road maintenance works have not been taken up for several years. The footpaths on both sides of the barrage are damaged and the railings require minor repairs.

Besides, the Krishna Right Flood Bank Road is damaged in several parts from the Krishna Western Delta Head Regulator to Sachivalayam Seed Capital road, for five kilometres.

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s convoy, Leader of the Opposition and former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s convoy and the vehicles of several ministers, MLCs, MLAs vehicles and secretariat officials pass through the Krishna Right Flood Bank Road every day.

Chandrababu Naidu has been residing beside KRF Bank road since 2016.

The police regulate the vehicles travelling on the Krishna Right Flood Bank road when the vehicles of CM, Opposition Leader and other VIPs pass, especially during Assembly sessions, which has resulted in heated arguments with the common people.

In this situation, Water Resources Department Engineer in Chief C Narayana Reddy, who is the Krishna Delta Chief Engineer, sent proposals to the State government to sanction Rs.2.80 crore for conducting renovation works.After careful examination of the proposal, Principal Secretary Shashi Bhushan Kumar accorded administrative sanction for an amount of Rs.2.80 crore and he has given a gazette notification in this regard.

He directed the Chief Engineer, Krishna Delta System, to take necessary action for calling tenders and finalising the rates, quantities and leads proposed in the estimate. Also, the drawings should be approved by the competent authority and the sand rate should be adopted as per the revised sand policy, he added in the orders.
