The Telugu Desam Party (TDP), with the ongoing programme of ‘Idemi Kharma Mana Rashtraniki’ has initiated the step to know the problems of all the sections of society by holding reviews with them, said the former chief minister and national president of the party, Nara Chandrababu Naidu, here on Friday.

Addressing a roadshow at Kavali in Nellore district as part of the programme, Chandrababu Naidu admitted that the Backward Classes (BCs) are always a backbone for the TDP and the party too will stand by them till justice is done to the community. Chandrababu Naidu asked the BC communities to evaluate their progress before the TDP was established and after the party came into existence.

“Before the TDP came into existence, all the parties viewed the BCs as only a vote-bank but after the Late NTR founded the TDP he first reviewed their status and decided to promote them politically, economically and socially,” Chandrababu Naidu remarked. The TDP provided opportunities to the community to become MLAs and ministers and Mr Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, KE Krishna Murthy, Devendar Goud and Kollu Ravindra are examples for this, he stated.

“If BCs become partners in power, the decisions too will be efficient,” he felt and pointed out that the TDP provided opportunities to the community in local bodies and created 24 per cent reservations for them only to promote the community politically. “After I became the chief minister I increased the quota to 34 per cent but the Chief Minister, Jagan Mohan Reddy, came to power, he again brought it down to 24 per cent,” he observed.

The BC community which comprises 50 per cent of the total population in the State came to know that they are being cheated by Jagan, he said and called upon the community to come together to throw Jagan out of power. “I will stand by those who repose faith in the TDP,” Chandrababu Naidu said.

Stating that Jagan is giving shelter to those who are involved in the murder of his own paternal uncle, Vivekananda Reddy, the TDP supremo said the TDP leader, Kollu Ravindra, has been sent to jail though he does not have any connection with the murder. “The TDP state unit president, Atchennaidu, was arrested illegally and was sent to jail and a rape case was registered against another senior leader of the party, Ayyannapatrudu,” Chandrababu Naidu said.

Reiterating his support to the BCs, Chandrababu Naidu called upon the community to bring awareness among the public on the atrocities being committed during the YSRCP rule. The TDP supremo also appealed to the voters to elect Kancherla Srikanth, who is the party candidate from the Graduates constituency in the Legislative Council polls.
