New elements are brought in Drishyam 2: Ishita Dutta

Actress Ishita Dutta starrer Drishyam 2 is all set to hit your nearby cinemas theaters on November 18. As the film’s release date nears, The Pioneer connects with the actress, who shares with us some exclusive tidbits about the film.

Having a reputation to maintain and expectations to meet can either be a burden, or an inspiration. To live up to the expectations of the audience, the sequel to Drishyam must be one of the best thrillers in cinema. Hoping that some life will be injected into the flagging script by another intelligent twist, actress Ishita Dutta is back too! In an exclusive conversation with us, she speaks her mind on what’s coming in the sequel now, like, “As soon as people came to know that the cast is coming back, my phone couldn’t stop ringing! It’s the power of franchising. My husband, who is also a brilliant actor, Vatsal, was there for the premiere of the film, and he was lost for words.” The script praises the intelligence of the entire family, demonstrating how they transformed from a liability.

She continued, “It was seriously difficult for us to make the sequel. Unique elements were coming together once again, and we couldn’t afford to make any mistakes. The edit has to be correct! My character has transformed now. She hasn’t come out of the trauma yet; instead, she has developed more mental issues. That’s the hook for me to perform! That way, we are addressing mental health issues too.” Even when we are watching Ajay Devgn’s regularity, there is an unbreakable aura surrounding his daughter, played by Ishita. She says, “Sequels mean comparisons, the anticipation was so high that it took seven years in the making. Even after 7 years, I can still see the buzz around it.

The sequel has surely done justice!” Diminishing the sequel issues, she also said, “As soon as October begins, memes start to circulate about our movie. My inbox is full. There hasn’t been a year that I haven’t missed the Drishyam film because of the fandom.None of us knew Drishyam 2 was being made, yet we were rejoicing. It’s a reminder to me every year!” With the slow unravelling of plans, we are all excited, and so is she. She replies, “Akshaye Khanna is the new addition to the cast. I was learning from the best, they are the seniors. It was a reunion meeting! We never shoot in a linear format; sometimes the climax is shot first, so as an actor, you have to be prepared.

Before every scene, all of us used to have a discussion of our own on how to execute it. Seven years apart, takes more time. It was such an intense shoot that we hardly had laughable moments. One of the lighter moments that I remember could be when I had to drive in Goa, I don’t know how to drive. Both Ajay Sir and Shriya were scared to death! They couldn’t stop pulling my leg (she laughs), and that’s part of the fun of it.”
