Reacting to the disqualification of Congress MP Rahul Gandhi from Parliament, BRS national president and Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao said, “Today is a black day in the history of Indian democracy. Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification from Parliament is the height of Narendra Modi’s arrogance and dictatorship.”

KCR said, “It is highly reproachable that the Modi government is not only abusing constitutional institutions but also using the highest democratic platform – Parliament, for its nefarious activities.”

KCR said that it is an adverse time for democracy and the constitutional values. “The Modi’s regime overshadowed the emergency. Harassment of opposition leaders has become a routine. Modi on his own is collapsing by disqualifying opposition leaders to protect criminals and cheaters. This is not the time for conflicts between parties,” he added.

He said that it’s time all the opposition parties, keeping aside their differences, condemn this undemocratic and unparliamentary measure.

KCR called upon all democrats to openly condemn the misdeeds of the BJP government to safeguard the democracy and constitutional values in the country.

He said that Modi government, in an attempt to protect the biggest con of corporate history, is harassing and troubling the leaders of the opposition parties.

Minister KT Rama Rao took to Twitter to condemn the disqualification and said, “Disqualification of Rahul Gandhi is a blatant misinterpretation of Constitution. The hastiness showed in this issue is highly undemocratic.” He shared a picture which read, “I do not agree with what you have to say, but I’ll defend to death your right to say it.”

Minister Harish Rao said that disqualification of Rahul Gandhi from Parliament is dictatorship and arrogance of the BJP. “Democracy is under threat. Constitutional rights are under threat,” Minister Harish Rao said.

MLC Kavitha said that revoking the membership of Rahul Gandhi, despite knowing that he has a chance to appeal in the upper courts, is a blot on democracy. “This is a larger part of Modi’s mission of diverting people’s attention from his failures, corrupt friends and suppressing the opposition,” she said.

State Planning Board Vice-Chairman Boinapally Vinod Kumar asked if the BJP forgot Kerala High Court’s order suspending the conviction and sentence of Lakshadweep MP Mohammed Faizal. Kerala High Court’s order rendered inoperative the disqualification of the Lakshadweep MP notified by the Lok Sabha Secretariat, a day after the verdict was delivered by a sessions court in Kavaratti. Vinod Kumar said that the BJP government approached the Supreme Court against the stay given by the Kerala High Court last month, but the Supreme Court upheld the stay given by the Kerala High Court and gave its verdict this month. Despite the Kerala HC order and a subsequent Law Ministry recommendation that he be reinstated, the LS Secretariat is yet to issue an order reinstating him, he added.

Minister for Energy G Jagadish Reddy on Friday hauled Prime MInister Narendra Modi over the coals for muffling the voice of the dissident. “The Modi’s dictatorship is at its peak now,” he pointed out while speaking to the media here.

The Minister slammed the Modi government over the disqualification of Congress Lok Sabha member Rahul Gandhi. “Modi’s true face has now been exposed,” he observed and added that it was the beginning of the end of the regime. He expressed the fear that the dark days in the country.Jagadish Reddy said that the BJP-led Centre was bent upon stifling the voice of dissent. The Union government has been intimidating the Opposition by using Central agencies. The Modi government has been unleashing vicious vendetta against the opposition, he remarked.
