Foundation laid for Foxconn’s new manufacturing unit

Foxconn Interconnect Technology and the TS Government held the groundbreaking function for a new electronics manufacturing facility at Kongara Kalan.

The groundbreaking took place in the presence of the Minister for Industries & Commerce, ITE&C and MA&UD, KT Rama Rao and Foxconn Interconnect Technology Chairman and CEO Sidney Lu.

The new facility named KK unit by Foxconn will deliver world-class products to global markets, and will be a milestone in Foxconn Interconnect Technology’s global expansion strategy and would also diversify its global manufacturing base.

A joint statement by the Telangana government and Foxconn said, “The new facility will be a hub for Foxconn Interconnect Technology’s operations in Telangana, and will allow Foxconn Interconnect Technology to expand its production capacity.”

“The partnership between the Government of Telangana and Foxconn Interconnect Technology for this project will brighten Telangana’s growth story as well as Foxconn Interconnect Technology’s expansion in India. The Government of Telangana and Foxconn Interconnect Technology are confident that this investment will not only benefit Foxconn Interconnect Technology but also contribute to the overall growth of the region,” the statement said.

With an investment of around USD 500 mn, the facility will create 25,000 direct jobs in the first phase. “In the next 9 to 12 months hopefully we will be inaugurating this facility,” KTR said.

“I am glad to know that Foxconn Interconnect Technology will collaborate with the Government of Telangana to set up a training centre to train our youth so that they can acquire the skills to work in a high-tech manufacturing plant,” KTR said.
