Telangana Home Minister Mahamood Ali said that the women of Telangana should not wear European dressed. He said that wearing European dresses is not appropriate and asked Telangana women to wear ‘good’ clothes.
Speaking to the media on Friday, Mahamood Ali said, “Some headmaster or principal might be doing this but our policy is totally secular. People can wear whatever they want but if you wear European dress, it will not be correct. We should wear ‘good’ clothes. Auratein khaas taur se, kam kapde pehn’ne se pareshaani hoti hai, zyada kapde pehn’ne se logon ko sukun hota hai. Nowhere it is written that a burqa can’t be worn. We will take action,” Home Minister Mahmood Ali said.
Reacting to Mahamood Ali’s comments, Telangana BJP President Sanjay tweeted, “Now the Telangana government wants to decide what women should wear? While the Home Minister lectures on what women should wear, why was his mouth shut when there were rapes and murders?”
