Minister for Excise Dr V Srinivas Goud has said that there was no flooding of low-lying areas in the town as a result of the measures initiated in the town in a planned way and maintained that he has plans to develop the town on a par with the state capital Hyderabad.
He was taking part in a series of development progress laying foundation stones for CC Roads and drainages in the 22nd ward of the town on Saturday. Later, he undertook a long pada yatra in the ward inspected the roads and drainages affected by the recent rains.
Municipal Councillor Rashmita Prashant Kumar, Municipal chairman KC Narsimhulu, commissioner Pradeep Kumar, BRS functionaries, leaders of the colonies welfare association and others accompanied him in the pada yatra.
The Minister went round Bhagiradha Colony, BK Reddy Colony, Pasula Krishna Reddy Function hall road, Seshadri Nagar, Mytri Nagar, Krishna Nagar and Madhura Nagar. He proceeded on his pada yatra interaction with women and others during the visit.
Out of the development works implemented in the town at a cost of Rs 140 crore, CC Roads and drainages would be developed in 22nd ward at a cost of Rs 2.25 crore for which he had laid the foundation stone on Saturday.
Moreover, a park would be established in Bhagiradha colony.
Because of the planned implementation of development works in the town, the low-lying areas of Bhagiradha colony, Ramaiah Bowli, BK Reddy Colony were not affected on a large scale due to the incessant rains.
He spoke on the city beautification works and asked the contractors to execute development works with speed and quality.
