UTF alleges school education is in deep crisis

TS United Teachers’ Federation state general secretary Chava Ravi on Saturday expressed concern over the school education caught in severe crisis in Telangana.

Speaking at a meetingheld at UTF office here, he described the lack of officials to monitor the education system, shortage of HMs and subject teachers pushed the education system in the state into a severe crisis.

Because of legal cases, the transfers of teachers have been put on hold for over six months, he said and demanded the state government to effect the transfers prior to the election code of conduct comes into force.

The teachers were deprived of monetary benefit for 22 months in the implementation of the first PRC in the state. Therefore, he sought implementation of second PRC to teachers from July 1 this year and pay interim relief immediately. He urged the government to requisition the PRC report and take steps to imp.lement it.

He wanted the government to clear the pending DAs, pending bills and fulfil the demands for Basic pay of the KGBV residential school teachers, transfers of model schools and award promotions to them.

He wanted the government to scrap the CPS completely and implement OPS and extend old pension to the DSC teachers recruited in 2003.

TSUTF state secretary M Rajasekhara Reddy, TSUTF Nalgonda district president and general secretaries Yedla Saidulu, Perumalla Venkatesam, treasurer Narra Sekhar Reddy and other district leaders took part in the meeting.
