Collector V Prasanna Venkatesh on Monday visited some of the flood-affected areas and directed the officials to be on high alert till the Godavari floodwater is completely receded.
The Collector saw the intensity of flood at Komatilanka near Kaikaluru. He also visited the damaged gravel road located between Komatilanka and Atapaka. The Collector said that a boat was arranged for the residents of Komatilanka by the SDRF personnel to reach Kaikaluru.
He directed the officials to be vigilant as heavy inflow to the river Godavari continues. Collector Prasanna Venkatesh said that the gravel road between Komatilanka and Atapaka in Kolleru sanctuary was washed away.
He said that about 450 families live in Komati Lanka village, adding that a special boat facility has been provided under the SDRF team to enable them to go to Kaikaluru for students to go to schools and colleges and for other purposes. After the flood receded, measures would be taken to restore road facilities by laying culverts or pipelines in this area, he added.
The Collector appealed to the people of island villages to cooperate with the officials and asked them to sail on boats with the help of rescue personnel. He directed the local police and revenue officials to take all steps to ensure that there would not be loss of life due to floods. He directed the VROs and RIs to monitor the situation and report to the officials concerned.
Meanwhile, scarcity prevailed for fodder at some flood affected villages in Konaseema district. The farmers and cattle grazers in the flood affected areas shifted their cattle to safer places to save them from being washed away in the flood water.
But now they are unable to find fodder for their cattle. Since flood water inundated all the fields the cattle grazers were unable to find green grace. They are also unable to bring fodder like rice bran from other places as flood water surrounds their localities.
