A commotion broke out in front of the Telangana Assembly when a man suddenly tried to commit suicide by pouring petrol on himself. The police stopped him by splashing water.
The person who attempted suicide was identified by the police as a farmer from the Chandanavelli village in the Shabad mandal of Rangareddy district. When he tried to set fire to himself by pouring petrol near Gun Park, he was stopped by security personnel and taken to the Saifabad police station. The farmer complained that he was treated unfairly during land acquisition. He said that despite the acquisition of 2,000 acres, the government has not paid him compensation.
