Superintendent of Police Malika Garg has asked the people to be cautious about the PhonePay and Google Pay frauds.

In a statement here on Sunday, she said that the fraudsters phone the Google Pay and PhonePe people users and introduce themselves as PhonePe or Google Pay representatives. They tell the PhonePe or Google Pay users that they were given a reward and they should claim the reward money otherwise the reward would be cancelled.

They advise the users to download the PhonePe app and send a pay request and also enter UPI pin. If the app is downloaded and the UPI pin is entered, the fraudsters withdraw money from the accounts of GooglePay and PhonePe users. The SP asked people not to respond to such calls. One can check about the reward they are given in the app and do not trust the fraudsters.

The PhonePe and Google Pay company representatives will not call any customer, she said. Those who were cheated by fraudsters can complaint to the police by dialing 1930 or national cyber crime report portal www.cybercrime.gov.in
