The statue of former MLA and Congress leader late V Mohana Ranga Rao was vandalised by unidentified miscreants at Sana Rudravaram in Kalidindi mandal.
The face and hands of the statue were mutilated. In protest against vandalising the statue of Ranga, a large number of his admirers staged a dharna on the road. They squatted on the road raising slogans in protest against the destruction of the statue. They demanded the immediate arrest of the culprits. They vowed to continue their agitation till the culprits were arrested.
Kaikaluru MLA Dulam Nageswara Rao went to the place and saw the destroyed statue. The MLA condemned the destruction of the statue. He appealed to the agitating crowd to call off their stir assuring that the culprits would be arrested. Addressing the crowd, Janasena leader N Chalapati Rao said it is unfortunate that some miscreants destroyed the statue of Ranga.
Meanwhile, Kaikaluru CI Raghu and Kalidindi SI Priya Kumar rushed to the place and cleared traffic. The police registered a case and cleared the traffic on the road.
