The month of Sravan, which augurs well for all, begins in another 24 hours. Regional parties are gearing up their activities at the State level and the national parties at central level.

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) will receive applications from the candidates for the upcoming Telangana Assembly elections from August 18. In the BRS and the BJP there is no such tradition. Both these parties directly select the candidates. In preparation for the Assembly elections, the BJP held central election committee meeting on Wednesday at Delhi. BRS president and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao already finalised the first list of party candidates for the upcoming Assembly elections.

The political parties are preparing for the announcement of first list of candidates during the auspicious Sravana masam which begins on Thursday. While party leaderships are busy with finalising the candidates, the party leaders who are expecting party tickets are tensed up.

Some of the BRS leaders may be relieved about their political future as the party leadership is likely to announce the first list of candidates in a couple of days.

The BRS candidates whose names will appear in the first list will get rid of the tension that they are experiencing for the last few days.

The Congress and the BJP will take some time to announce their first list of candidates as they have a long procedure for finalising the candidates. In fact, in Telangana Congress, for about 50 constituencies the names of candidates were clear. In the Telangana BJP also for about 30 Assembly constituencies the names of the candidates were clear.

But to announce these candidates both the Congress and the BJP will follow some party procedure. After completing this procedure only these two parties will announce their first lists. In the BRS and the Congress there is heavy competition from the party leaders in almost all Assembly constituencies. In the BRS, the sitting MLAs are also facing competition from other party leaders.

In the BRS and the Congress the candidates are feeling one kind of tension and in the BJP the candidates are feeling another kind of tension. While the BRS and Congress leaders are feeling the tension that their names will be in the list or not, the BJP senior leaders are tensed up whether the high command will include their names in the list of Assembly candidates or not, because the senior BJP leaders want to contest in the Lok Sabha elections and not in the Assembly elections.
