1,159 specialist doctors posted in 26 govt medical colleges

The Director of Medical Education has issued orders for posting 1,159 specialist doctors under compulsory government service in 26 government medical college hospitals in 25 districts of the State.

Those who completed postgraduate medical education have to work in government hospitals for one year. As per this provision, on the basis of merit they are given the opportunity in the teaching hospital of their choice after completing the counseling for two days.

A total of 24 types of specialty medical services, including General Surgery, General Medicine, Ortho, Gynaec, ENT, and Anaesthesia are going to be provided to the people through them.

With the appointment of specialty doctors, people will get more quality medical services in the districts. The Telangana government, which considers public health as the highest priority, has given specialty doctors Rs. 92,575 is being paid as stipend.

Minister for Health T Harish Rao said Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is setting up one medical college in each the district with the aim of bringing medical education and specialty medical services to the districts and remote areas. So far 26 medical colleges have been established and specialty medical services have been made available in their affiliated hospitals. The government is taking all necessary measures to provide necessary medical services at the district level. As part of this, the recruitment of assistant professors has already been completed and promotions have been made. Thus, specialty medical services have been brought closer to remote districts.
