Chaos ensued at Gannavaram Airport on Monday night as a hoax bomb threat call temporarily grounded an Air India flight bound for New Delhi. The incident led to the swift response of airport security personnel and local law enforcement.
At approximately 9:30 PM, authorities received a distressing call from Tanuku, alerting them to a potential security threat concerning the Air India flight scheduled to depart for New Delhi. Airport security promptly sprang into action, sounding the alarm among both passengers and airport staff who were preparing for the flight.
With safety as the utmost priority, police swiftly dispatched bomb disposal and K-9 units to the scene, conducting meticulous sweeps of the airport premises, including cargo facilities. During this time, access to the airport was temporarily restricted, causing delays and inconvenience to passengers. Thankfully, after a thorough examination of the airport and its surroundings, no explosive devices were discovered, and the all-clear was given.
However, shortly thereafter, an unidentified individual came forward to confess that the initial threat had been a false alarm.
Local authorities wasted no time launching a full-scale investigation into the incident. It was determined that the bogus call had originated from Tanuku. Following diligent efforts, the perpetrator was identified as Muppala Ranga Raman, a resident of Tanuku.
In a swift operation, Gannavaram Police Officer Srinivas traveled to Tanuku and apprehended Ranga Raman on Tuesday. He stands accused of making the fraudulent bomb threat call that led to the temporary grounding of the Air India flight.
As the investigation unfolds, authorities are expected to shed light on the motive behind this irresponsible act, with potential legal consequences awaiting the individual responsible for disrupting the travel plans of countless passengers.
