The verdict in the house custody petition filed by TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu has been adjourned for one day by the ACB judge on Tuesday. The arguments on this petition were put forth in three phases throughout Monday, with advocate Siddharth Luthra from the Supreme Court representing Chandrababu Naidu, and Additional AG Ponnavolu Sudhakar Reddy representing the CID.
At the request of Chandrababu’s advocate to announce the verdict tomorrow morning, the judge reportedly indicated that the judgment would be delivered in the afternoon, During these arguments, Additional AG Sudhakar Reddy contended that there was no need to change the remand to house custody. Despite Chandrababu’s legal team has presented their arguments in favour of house custody in the ACB court since Sunday night, the judge announced the postponement of the verdict until the following day. In the course of his argument on behalf of the CID, Additional AG Ponnavolu reiterated his stance and urged the court not to grant house arrest to Chandrababu. He argued that such a move could potentially tamper with evidence in the skill development scam case and emphasised the higher security provided in prisons compared to homes.
He explained that the police are on duty around the clock, with medical facilities available in case of emergencies.
Conversely, on Monday, the CID filed another petition against Chandrababu at the Vijayawada ACB Court. This new petition pertained to alleged irregularities in the Amaravati Outer Ring Road Case. Furthermore, the CID submitted an additional petition seeking custody in connection with the corruption case related to skill development, which will be addressed following the house arrest petition.
