Amarnath for use of theatre to promote ethics education

In a bid to instill ethical values among students, Industries Minister Gudivada Amarnath has proposed the integration of ethics education through theatrical plays.
“We need to bring back the importance of ethics education, especially in today’s world where there is a lack of moral content in films,” Minister Amarnath asserted during the closing ceremony of the Vizag Junior Theater Fest held at the VMRDA Children’s Theatre on Monday.
Expressing concern over the decline of the theatre industry, which has been overshadowed by the film industry, he noted, “The film industry today is more focused on entertainment than on conveying ethical messages. This is why we need to bring back theater, which can be a powerful tool for teaching ethics to students.”
In a visionary proposal, Amarnath suggested recording drama performances and showcasing them on digital screens in schools, specifically targeting students in classes six to ten. “This will help students understand the importance of ethical values and how to apply them in their lives,” he explained.
Assuring government support for the initiative, the minister declared that necessary resources would be provided to facilitate the display of these recorded plays on digital screens in schools across the state.
The event witnessed the active participation of influential figures, including VMRDA Joint Commissioner V Ravindra, MRDA Deputy Collector D Keerthi, Kankatala Mallick, Pydha Krishna Prasad, Managers G Sandhya, Priya Uppalapati, S Sharada, and others.
