In a move to uphold environmental sanctity, the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) has announced stringent steps against both the dumping of waste and encroachments in the city’s green belts.
Mayor Golagani Venkata Kumari asserted the commitment to maintaining the ecological balance by ensuring the preservation of green spaces.
“Preserving our green belts is essential for the overall well-being of our city,” stated Mayor Kumari. “We will take strict action against those involved in the illegal dumping of waste and encroachments, as this poses a threat to the environment and undermines the aesthetic appeal of our surroundings.”
Underlining the importance of a clean city, GVMC Commissioner, CM Saikanth Varma, has instructed officials to proactively address the issue of unauthorized wall posters. The directive aims not only to enhance the city’s cleanliness but also to curb the visual pollution caused by illegal posters.
“Removing unauthorised wall posters is a crucial step towards maintaining the cleanliness and beauty of our city,” said Commissioner Varma. “We urge citizens to refrain from defacing public spaces, and strict fines will be imposed on those found violating these regulations.”
The GVMC is set to take swift and decisive action to enforce these measures. This initiative aligns with the civic body’s broader goal of creating a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable urban environment for the residents of Visakhapatnam.
As the city grapples with the challenges of urbanization, GVMC’s commitment to preserving green spaces underscores the importance of collective responsibility in ensuring a healthier and aesthetically pleasing living environment for all. The implementation of fines and removal of unauthorized structures and posters signifies a proactive approach by local authorities in safeguarding the city’s environmental integrity.
