The Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT), headed by National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) Executive Director (ED) Rajendra Ratnoo, inspected the paddy fields at Kankipadu, Pamarru, Gudivada mandals in the Krishna district, which were damaged by Cyclone Michaung, on Wednesday.
Also, the Central team visited a photo exhibition of the crop damage and later interacted with farmers at the YSR Rythu Bharosa Kedram–2 at Kankipadu.
Krishna District Joint Collector Dr Aparajitha Singh explained the agriculture and horticulture crop damage caused by the cyclone to the team. R&B roads, Panchayat Raj roads, electricity lines and others were affected by the cyclone, she said.
She stated that as per the primary assessment, 1,01,862 hectares of paddy crop were lost due to Cyclone Michaung. 913.62 hectares of horticulture crops were also lost, she added. She said that 57 R&B roads of 312.23 km and six roads of 17.16 km were damaged.
After visiting the photo exhibition, the Central team went to Pamarru and Gudivada to inspect the damaged paddy crops.
Penamaluru MLA Kolusu Pardha Saradhi and Pamarru MLA Kaile Anil Kumar explained the farmers’ concerns to the team.
Ministry of Finance Assistant Director Mahendra Chendelia, NHAI, and Roads and Transport SE Rakesh Kumar noted down the details.
Krishna District Agriculture Advisory Board Chairman J Raghava Rao, Agriculture Officer N Padmavathi, District Civil Supplies Officer D Raju, Horticulture Officer G Jyothi, and other officials were present.
