Eluru dist tops in execution of welfare schemes: DC

District Collector V Prasanna Venkatesh has said that Eluru district has stood top in the state in implementing Navaratnalu welfare schemes and the Spandana programmes.
Addressing a press conference here, the Collector said that Eluru district also stands top in implementing Pradhan Mantri Arogya Suraksha scheme. The district is also at the top in oil palm cultivation.
The Collector explained to the media about the progress of the district, the development works being carried out and the efficient implementation of various welfare schemes. “Eluru district has stood in second place in the holding of ‘Jaganannaku Chebudam programme,’ ‘ he stated.
Collector Prasanna Venkatesh said that 2.5 lakh metric tonnes of paddy was purchased from 30,669 farmers, worth Rs 461 crore, in the district during the present agriculture season through the Rythu Bharosa Kendras. The rain affected farmers were extended input subsidy and crop insurance, he added.
The official machinery worked efficiently in purchasing the paddy from the farmers. They provided 78 lakh gunny bags to the farmers and made 17,000 vehicles available for them to transport their paddy produce, the Collector said, adding that the paddy produce was also purchased online during the cyclone time in a bid to avoid trouble to the paddy farmers.
Loans were extended to the farmers through NABARD under Farmers’ Producers Organisation mode to construct storage godowns in the district. Under the ‘Mana Badi-Nadu Nedu programme’, 883 government schools were renovated in the first phase and 697 schools in the second phase, he said, stating that 1012 Anganwadi centres were developed in the district.
Collector Prasanna Venkatesh informed that 33,000 tablet PCs were distributed to the students. Permanent rights were given to 9217 farmers of 11,700 assignment lands in the district, he said. “The Nuzvid area hospital in the district was adjudged the best hospital for the services in the state and the Jangareddy area hospital selected for Kayakalpa award.
Collector Venkatesh said that 2.88 lakh people are disbursed about Rs 84 crore under social security pensions every month in Eluru district. As many as 19,420 DWCRA groups were disbursed Rs 1485 crore loans. Under the YRR Bhima, 41 families, who lost breadwinner, were disbursed Rs 2 crore. Joint Collector B Lavanya Veni said that the land resurvey had been held in 2.43 acres so far.
Nuzvid sub-collector Aadarsh Rajendran and other officials were present.
