It is not a new thing in Telugu states to see members of the same family working in different political parties.
When YS Sharmila, the sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, joined the Congress some political parties said that it is happening for the first time in Telugu states.
In United Andhra Pradesh there were several families whose members were in different political parties. In fact, when the late NTR launched the Telugu Desam Party in 1982 his son-in-law, the current TDP supremo Nara Chandrababu Naidu, was in the Congress.
During the 1983 Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections Chandrababu told the Congress high command that he is ready to contest against his father-in-law NTR.
While the former Governor of Maharashtra, Ch. Vidyasagar Rao is in the BJP, his brother Ch. Rajeshwar Rao was in the CPI. In the last phase of his political career, Rajeshwar Rao joined the TDP. But Vidyasagar is continuing in the BJP.
Members of the famous Vijayanagaram royal family, the Gajapathi Raju brothers, were in different parties. While Ananda Gajapathi Raju was in the Congress his brother Ashok Gajapathi Raju is in the TDP. At one time when Ananda Gajapathi Raju was in the TDP and his wife Uma Gajapathi Raja was in the Congress.
At present, in Telangana, the Errabelli Dayakar Rao brothers and the current Medical and Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha and his brother are in different political parties.
In Andhra Pradesh, members of the Devineni family are also in different parties. There are many families whose members are in different political parties. In other states also there are many families whose members are in different political parties.
