NAVEENA GHANATE
The Telangana government has halted all payments till Rythu Bandhu funds are disbursed.
Sources said that except for emergencies, the government is not going to release a single rupee for any other thing. The disbursal of Rythu Bandhu funds is likely to be completed by January 31.
Rythu Bandhu funds have been transferred to the bank accounts of 29 lakh farmers with less than two acres and steps are being taken to allot funds for the remaining farmers too.
During BRS rule the money used to be credited within a week. However, it is now about a month, but the process has not yet been completed. If disbursement is not completed, the Congress will face backlash from farmers during the Lok Sabha polls.
On December 12, the CM ordered the disbursal of Rythu Bandhu funds. Despite the crunch,
the Telangana government wants to implement the ‘Rythu Bharosa’ scheme by increasing crop investment assistance.
The government is already discussing the quantum of funds to be allotted in the Budget for the scheme.
On Thursday, the Deputy CM reviewed the 2024-25 annual budget proposals for Agriculture, Marketing, Handloom Textiles and Horticulture departments with Minister Tummala Nageswar Rao at the Secretariat. They discussed the funds allotted for farmer insurance, crop insurance, Rythu Bandhu, cultivation of oil palm, purchase of grain and drip cultivation.
The Ministers ordered officials to completely block fake seeds from entering the market and to clamp down on companies that do not follow the government’s rules on seed production.
The budget proposals for this year have been submitted by all departments to the finance department.
