Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao laid the foundation stone for the Hyderabad Airport Metro Corridor on Friday.Speaking on the occasion the CM said, “Due to my special interest, Hyderabad has become an island in the power sector.

This means that Hyderabad is connected to all generating stations in the state, the state electricity grid and the national electricity grid. In short, New York, London and Paris may witness power outages but not Hyderabad. With uninterrupted power, 500 big companies opened their establishments in Hyderabad and thousands got employment.”

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao laid the foundation stone for the construction of the Hyderabad Airport Express Metro Project undertaken by the Telangana Government from the Rayadurgam Mind Space Junction to RGI Airport to meet the future needs of Hyderabad.

KCR performed Bhoomi Puja and laid the foundation stone for the Metro Project. Later, the CM unveiled the plaque.

“Flyovers and underpasses have been constructed in Hyderabad under SRDP. Today Hyderabad is becoming a traffic-free city. Forty-floor and 60-floor skyscrapers are coming up in Hyderabad. Due to increased air traffic a second runway is also going to be constructed at RGIA,” the CM said.

MLAs have brought to my notice land problems. The government will resolve that. 4.50 lakh people are travelling Hyderabad Metro Rail every day.The Metro is the only way to avoid pollution and traffic congestion. We need to extend the Metro across Hyderabad. The Metro will go up to BHEL and Outer Ring Road in future. We will develop the Metro even without the Centre’s cooperation,” KCR said.

In view of the future needs of Hyderabad, the 31-km metro project from Mind Space to RGIA is being undertaken by the state government,” KCR said.Declaring that Hyderabad has a longer history than Delhi, KCR said. “Hyderabad got electricity supply in 1912 and power supply to Madras (Chennai) started only in 1927,” the CM said.
