State I&PR and Housing Minister Kolusu Parthasarathy said that the government will help the flood victims in all possible ways. MLAs Ch Balaraju, Ch Prabhakar, Songa Roshan Kumar, Eluru District Joint Collector B Lavanyaveni and other district officials met the flood victims of Kukkunur and Velerupadu mandals on Saturday to inquire about their problems. The minister inspected flood-damaged houses in Velerupadu mandal, Allurinagar and Medipally and spoke to the family. The flood victims requested the Minister to help them as they have lost everything in the flood.
Responding to them, the minister said that the government will support the victims in all ways. Apart from providing houses to those who have lost their homes completely, compensation will be provided to those who have lost their crops and cattle. He said that as soon as the flood water recedes, the officials of the respective departments will enumerate the losses in the flood-affected villages and compensation will be provided to the victims.
Since the onset of heavy rains, CM Chandrababu Naidu has alerted the district administration to take precautionary measures in Kukkunur, Velerupadu, Polavaram and other mandals where Godavari floods are likely to occur. He said that food and accommodation facilities will be provided to the victims at the flood relief centers until the flood water recedes. The minister directed the officials to provide morning breakfast, lunch and dinner in the evening to the people who are far away from the relief center. Medical camps will be set up at the relief camps and ensure that there is no shortage of drinking water. The affected families should be provided essential commodities like rice, dal and edible oil.
Minister Parthasarady said pregnant women nearing delivery time should be taken to the nearest government hospital immediately and children and elderly should be taken to safe places. The minister directed the animal husbandry department officials to provide the necessary fodder to the cattle. Due to the damaged roads between the villages, the connectivity roads should be urgently repaired so that the relief operations are not hindered due to disruption of traffic. The minister directed the DMHO to set up medical camps in the flood affected villages. The minister said that relief operations should be carried out without negligence.
