FINISH WHEN THE GOING IS GOOD

Is Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Commissioner Kata Amrapali Reddy not here for the long haul? In what could be a Freudian slip, Amrapali gave away the uncertainty of her tenure. At a presser, responding to a query on why GHMC is speeding Rs 22 crore on GIS survey at a time when the corporation has debts, its staff are fighting for increase in salaries and other expenses, Amrapali said without mincing words: “Yes the survey announced earlier was to be finished in eighteen months but I am not confident that I will be in the department until then; so, before I leave I want to finish the project and give a never-before-seen initiative for betterment of Hyderabad.” She wants to complete the project within six months. In amplification of her answer, she pointed out that initiatives are being left midway and GIS survey was among them. Yet, she had picked it up as a challenge. It looks like she will move heaven and earth before she is moved.
