Congress Party leaders and activists at Nandigam in the district staged a protest on Friday, burning an effigy of former Minister KT Rama Rao to condemn his controversial remarks on women. The protest took place on Nandigam Old Road and was led by Nandigam Congress party mandal unit president Janga Narasimhulu Yadav, former MPTCs, and other senior party leaders.
The effigy burning was a reaction to comments made by KTR at a recent event at Navbharat. The Congress leaders described KTR’s remarks on women inappropriate and derogatory. The protest saw the participation of several prominent Congress leaders, including former MPTCs Kommu Krishna and Chandrapal Reddy, as well as senior leaders Jillela Bal Reddy, Pittala Ramulu, and Bommaga Narasimha, among others. The demonstrators expressed their outrage, demanding an apology from KTR and calling for greater respect and sensitivity in public discourse. The incident added to the growing tension between political parties in the region.
