‘Will help Musi victims’

Must read

We will stand with Musi victims, KTR said at a meeting held at the Telangana Bhavan with affected people. He assured them that the BRS would not only fight on their behalf but also provide legal assistance free. The government’s policy to demolish the homes of the poor in the name of the Musi Project would not be tolerated, KTR warned. “We won’t remain idle if they try to bring down the houses of the poor,” he added, vowing to stand by those whose livelihoods are at risk.
KTR did not mince words as he targeted the Congress, the very party that granted permissions for these settlements and collected electricity bills and property taxes, only to now label the poor as encroachers. He called this attitude disgraceful, saying that it exposes the Congress government’s double standards. “Musi victims should not fear anything. The BRS will be there to support them,” he said, assuring them of his party’s full backing.

During the meeting, the Musi victims expressed their concerns over the government’s move to demolish their homes. They shared their anguish with KTR, explaining that their homes in the Musi floodplains are over 50 years old.

“Where can we go if they destroy our houses?” they asked, pleading for help. KTR responded by cautioning the Congress government against indiscriminately demolishing homes, asserting that would not be tolerated under any circumstances.

The Musi victims expressed gratitude to KTR for his assurance of support, and KTR reminded them to approach local BRS leaders or the elected representatives they had helped win if they faced any problems.
