In a major boost to women’s self-help groups, the Minister for MSME, SERP, and NRI Affairs, Kondapalli Srinivas, has announced plans to support their year-round marketing of handicrafts and products. The announcement was made during the closing ceremony of the All-India DWCRA Bazaar-2024 SARAS Fair.
The Minister highlighted the government’s commitment to empowering women entrepreneurs. “We are making arrangements to ensure that members of women’s self-help groups can market their products throughout the year,” he stated. “This will provide them with a platform to showcase their talent and creativity.”
CM  Chandrababu Naidu’s decision to allocate 10 acres in Amaravati for a permanent centre for the sale and exhibition of DWCRA products was met with approval by the Minister. Addressing the event on the Saras premises, the Minister emphasised the exhibition’s role in providing valuable insights into diverse products from various regions. “This exhibition is not just about sales; it is an opportunity for our self-help groups to learn and grow,” he said. The exhibition recorded sales worth Rs 7.20 crore, a testament to the hard work of the women entrepreneurs.
Nellimarla MLA Lokam Naga Madhavi praised the initiative as a vital step towards fostering entrepreneurship. “This exhibition aligns perfectly with our government’s vision of creating an entrepreneur in every household,” he remarked. “It is crucial to provide marketing facilities for the products made by members of the Swayam Shakti organisation.” Vijayanagar MLA Aditi Gajapathi also highlighted the importance of supporting women in entrepreneurship. “We must encourage women to become aspiring entrepreneurs by purchasing handicrafts, textiles, and other items created by DWCRA women,” she stated.
