Collector Abhilasha Abhinav has asked government officials to take measures for tourism development in the district.
She held a review meeting with the officials on prominent temples, historic structures, tourism development at collectorate here on Thursday. She asked them to identify the tourist places and provide with them necessary amenities, take steps for their beautification.
She asked the officials to prepare plans for development of prominent temples, historic structures, tourist places, irrigation projects and waterfalls. She wanted the officials to provide better amenities to tourists visiting Basara Saraswati temple, Pochamma temple, Sadarmat Barrage, Swarna, Kadem and Geddanna Vagu projects.
She asked them to constitute a district-level tourism committee to take steps for tourism development.
Further, she wanted the officials to use the social media platforms like X, Facebook, Instagram for giving wide publicity to tourist places in the district. Sanitation should be improved at tourist places besides providing toilet places there.
For the benefit of long-distance tourists visiting Basara temple, she asked the officials to provide better amenities, prepare an action plan to check rush of the devotees on important days, sanitation should be improved near the temple premises, provide drinking water and toilets for the benefit of the devotees.
All arrangements should be made near the River Godavari so as not to cause any problems to devotees. A help desk should be set up for the benefit of devotees contacting it in emergencies.
Local bodies Additional Collector Faizan Ahmed, Tourism official Srikant Reddy, CPO JeevaRatnam, municipal commissioner CVN Raju, Basara Saraswati Temple EO vijaya Rama Rao and others took part in the meeting.
