Houses for all beneficiaries by ‘29: CM

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu conducted a review of the housing department with the concerned minister and officials at the Secretariat on Monday. During the meeting, the CM emphasised the goal of constructing houses for all eligible individuals by 2029. He directed officials to take steps to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Centre to launch the PMAY 2.0 scheme in the state.
Officials informed the CM that 58,578 houses have been constructed under the PMAY Urban scheme and 17,197 houses under the PMAY Rural scheme since the formation of the NDA coalition government in the state. They also announced that one lakh houses are expected to be completed by December, with preparations underway to hand over the keys to beneficiaries for housewarming ceremonies.
The CM instructed the construction of an additional 7.60 lakh houses by 2026. Officials explained that the housing department has initiated a pilot project using drones for measuring and assessing the quality of house construction.
The CM mandated the application of the same technology in larger layouts and ordered the development of infrastructure facilities in all layouts in coordination with the respective departments. He also agreed to the deputation of 597 personnel to the Housing Department.
Minister Kolusu Parthasarathy, Special Chief Secretary Ajay Jain, and senior officials participated in the review.
