Minister for R&B BC Janardhan Reddy has reiterated that road repairing works have been taken up in the State at a cost of Rs 861 crore and road repairing works are being carried out in a big way in the district.
The Minister during his district visit, participated in the road repairing works at Mallakatipalle village in Vontimitta mandal on Thursday. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister asserted that the government is committed to reconstruct and carry out needed repairs to highways and all roads connecting to the rural areas. He highlighted that the government had allocated Rs 861 crore for road repairing works in the State.
“As many as 269 road repairing workers have been taken up in Kadapa district at a cost of Rs 38.53 crore. The government is determined to complete the road repairing works by Sankranthi festival. The government has taken all steps to make the State a pothole-free Road State,” he noted, adding that he is inspecting the road repairing works at the ground level at various places to expedite the process.
“The issue of upgrading 10,000 KMs of highways in the State as ‘National Highways’ and the issue has been brought to the notice of the Prime Minister. We anticipate that a positive decision will be taken by the Central government in this regard,” the R&B Minister acknowledged. The Minister highlighted that Rs 75,000 crore worth highway works in the State would be completed by two or three years.
Taking a dig at the previous YSRCP regime, Minister Janardhan Reddy regretted that the erstwhile government had left all roads in the state in a pathetic condition. That is why, the Chandrababu Naidu headed government now is giving priority for the repairing and reconstructing of roads despite financial constraints, he observed.
The Minister stated that he reviews the road repairing works with the officials concerned every week and committed to complete the works by the prescribed time. The previous YSRCP regime crippled many lift irrigation schemes during their rule and the people of the State understood the misadministration and taught them a lesson in the last election, the Minister lashed out.
