Minister for Social Welfare Dola Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy and Collector Tameem Ansariya paid tributes to social reformer Jyothi Ba Phule on the occasion of his death anniversary here on Thursday.
The Minister, the Collector, AP Tourism Corporation chairman Nukasani Balaji and Mayor Gangada Sujaya garlanded the statue of Jyothi Ba Phule at vegetable market. Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Minster Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy recalled the efforts made by Jyothi Ba Phule to eradicate caste evil from the society and bring reforms in the society. His services to the society are invaluable, he stated.
Jyothi Ba Pule encouraged and promoted women education and had striven for their uplift. He exhorted people to draw inspiration from Jyothi Ba Phule and Dr. BR Ambedkar to remove social disparities. Collector Ahameem Ansariya recalled that Jyothi Ba Phule recognized the need for women’s education and worked towards women’s education by establishing schools specifically for women. Similarly, he fought against caste discrimination and superstitions prevalent in the society of that time. AP Tourism Development Corporation chairman Nukasani Balaji also spoke.
