The NTR District Police Commissionerate Annual Sports and Games Meet-2024 began at the City Armed Reserve Ground, located adjacent to Mahatma Gandhi Road in Vijayawada, on Thursday. A total of seven police teams, along with individual players, participated enthusiastically in the event. Police Commissioner SV Rajasekhar Babu officially inaugurated the sports and games meet, receiving a guard of honour from the police teams prior to the ceremony.
This three-day sports and games meet will conclude on November 30. To commemorate the event, international sports medalists, including V Srinivasa Rao, M Tualasi Chaitanya, D Naresh Babu, G Sambasiva Rao, Srinivas Naik, and K Lakhsmi Prasanna, participated in the torch rally.
In his address to the gathering, CP Rajasekhar Babu acknowledged that the police department faced significant stress in 2024. He highlighted the increasing expectations from the public and emphasised the importance of adaptability and evolution within the police force. He pointed out that many cases are resolved through the use of technology, which he described as a crucial resource for the police.
Furthermore, he stressed the importance of physical fitness, urging everyone to engage in regular exercise to maintain enthusiasm. He noted that while the police’s primary mission is to protect the public, their health is equally important. He commended the women police for their active roles in handling high-profile cases and mentioned that participating in sports and games would help officers stay active in their duties.
Deputy Commissioners of Police Tirumaleswara Reddy, Uma Maheswara Raju, ABTS Udaya Rani, Krishna Murthy, SVD Prasad, G Anand Babu, and others attended the event.
