My mother chose to remarry when I was 10. I realised as a child that it was excellent for her. Living alone in this world is quite challenging, particularly for a single mother of a girl child. I used to wonder whether this is the right world and how difficult it must be to live in it when I saw the circumstances of that time. She continued to place me in Chennai’s top schools! She also insisted that I attend a coeducational school so that I could learn about equality. An all-girls school won’t help because she really wanted me to deal with the world, which is full of guys too.
