All set for paddy procurement

Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of State Civil Supplies Corporation G Veerapandian has said that paddy purchase centres have been set up to procure paddy produce from the farmers and steps were taken to do away with the interference of mediators.

G Veerapandian on Friday, inspected the process of paddy purchase at Rythu Bharosa Kendra in Narayanapuram and Unguthuru mandals.

Speaking on the occasion he said that steps had been taken to procure paddy produce at the Minimum Support Price without causing any trouble to the farmers.

He said that a mobile app had been created for this, and through this app, paddy collection could be carried out transparently without the interference of the middlemen system.

“Farmers cooperative societies, rice millers and transport agencies should work in coordination so that farmers do not face any difficulties in selling their paddy produce”, Veerapandyan said, and asked the staff concerned about the details like how many farmers had sold their paddy produce so far and how many more farmers are ready to sell their paddy produce.

Informing that the method of measuring moisture in paddy produce was examined, Veerapandian said that gunny bags required for paddy collection are available in the district and there is no shortage for the same and there is no need for the farmers to worry about this.

District Collector V Prasanna Venkatesh said that they were buying the paddy grown by the farmers during the Kharif season directly from the farmers. A solid action plan had been prepared for this.

“Special app has been created and a new system is being implemented for the paddy procurement”, the Collector said and directed the district Cooperation Officer to immediately appoint another assistant in addition to the technical assistant who conducts sample testing at the paddy produce at the procurement centres exceeding 3 thousand metric tons.

“Currently 60 lakh gunny bags are available in the district and there is no shortage of gunny bags”, the Collector made it clear. Joint Collector P Arun Babu, RDO K Penchal Kishore, Civil Supplies Corporation District Manager Manjubhargavi, District Civil Supplies Officer RSS Raju and District Cooperation Officer Praveena were present.
