Officials directed to identify lands to set up fishing hubs

District Collector Vijaya Krishnan directed the officials to identify lands on war footing to establish fishing hubs and mini-fishing hubs in the district.

The collector held a review meeting with the officials on various issues here on Friday. Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said that the government had sanctioned three fishing hubs and 276 mini-fishing hubs to the Bapatla district with the sole intention of making fisheries available to the people.

The Collector said that fishing hubs should be set up in commercial areas in towns and villages, adding that with the new policy, a minimum support price is being provided to the aqua farmers. Vijaya Krishnan said that mutton and chicken outlets under the name of P-Mart should be set up across the district as per government regulations.

The Collector said that for the convenience of young women and men, special centres would be set up to provide training in competitive examinations. The Collector ordered to complete of the e-crop booking in view of the commencement of paddy produce procurement in the month of December. For the welfare of farmers, the district had been sanctioned 54 godowns in the first phase under RBKs, 79 godowns in the second phase and 77 godowns in the third phase, she informed.

The construction works should be completed quickly, she told the officials. The development works sanctioned by the government during the Gadapa GadapaKu programme should be completed expeditiously, she directed the officials. She particularly appreciated the engineering officials for the progress of the construction of toilets and the Jal Jeevan Mission.

The District Collector said that people could live prosperously only with the goals of sustainable development. For this, the officials had to work considering the eight points suggested by NITI Aayog.

“In order to reduce the number of dropouts, especially from intermediate, wide awareness programs should be undertaken among the people,” she said adding that there is a possibility to prevent child marriages as well. She suggested that 140 food processing units should be established in the district to provide employment to the women. CPO G Bharat, ZP CEO B Jalireddy, and DRDA PD B Arjun Rao were among those who were present.
