Hyderabad’s startup ecosystem is thriving, with collaborative spaces that drive innovation, said IT Department Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan at the Hyderabad Entrepreneurial Ecosystem Collective, organized by TiE at Anvaya Conventions in Gachibowli.
On this occasion, Jayesh highlighted Hyderabad’s growth from 200 startups in 2014 to over 9,000 today, crediting government support, ecosystem partners and shared spaces. Ranjan appreciated TiE’s efforts in uniting ecosystem partners, who often work independently, to drive collective benefits.
Over 40 partners, including incubators, investors, government bodies and corporate leaders along with Jennifer Larson, US Consul General and Vikram Jain, Trade Commissioner of Canada also participated.
TiE Hyderabad honoured Murali Bukkapatnam for being elected Chair of the TiE Global Board of Trustees for 2025. He is the first from TiE Hyderabad and the second from India to hold this position. Murali shared his journey from Hindupur and his commitment to inspiring entrepreneurs. He emphasised TiE’s contributions, including the creation of the Research and Innovation Circle of Hyderabad (RICH) and T-Hub.
TiE aims to expand to 100 cities, create $100 billion in wealth, and generate 10 million jobs in five years. Hyderabad Angels also felicitated Murali for his contributions, recalling their funding of 76 startups with Rs.100 crore since 2010.
The event featured a Leadership Series talk with Abhay Deshpande, founder of Recykal.
He discussed his entrepreneurial journey, the challenges he faced and his company’s efforts in waste management. Recykal is pioneering a Deposit Refund System (DRS) in Goa to promote recycling, with plans to expand nation-wide.
TiE Hyderabad’s leadership reaffirmed their focus on supporting startups, driving innovation and driving sustainable growth in 2025.
