International Women’s Day will be celebrated on a grand scale in Markapuram, Prakasam district, on March 8, with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu attending the event, announced Ministers V. Anitha, S. Savitha, and Gummadi Sandhya Rani.
The three ministers—Home Minister V. Anitha, BC Welfare Minister S. Savitha, and Women and Child Welfare Minister Gummadi Sandhya Rani—held a review meeting at the Secretariat in Velagapudi on Tuesday to discuss the arrangements for the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister S. Savitha stated that as part of the celebrations, the government has decided to distribute sewing machines to one lakh women. She urged the public to ensure the success of the International Women’s Day event.
Home Minister V. Anitha directed officials to finalise beneficiaries for the government schemes, with the Chief Minister personally handing over the benefits during the event. She instructed officials to set up 15 stalls representing various departments at the venue.
She also announced that the ‘Sakthi’ app, developed for women’s safety, will be unveiled by the Chief Minister during the programme.
Minister Gummadi Sandhya Rani called for district-level celebrations of International Women’s Day across the state.
The meeting was attended by BC Welfare Director Mallikharjun, along with officials from MEPMA, police, Women and Child Welfare, Tribal Welfare, and Social Welfare departments.
