Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy held a comprehensive review meeting with the Department of Health. During the meeting, the CM underscored the need to further strengthen the healthcare services offered through Dr. YSR Aarogyasri. The Chief Minister highlighted the revolutionary impact of Dr. YSR Aarogyasri on public health and emphasized the need for extensive promotion and awareness.
“It is crucial to further educate people and enhance awareness of the proactive initiative-taking measures under healthcare is being provided through Dr. YSR Aarogyasri. Community Health Officers (CHOs), Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs), and Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) staff should lead a comprehensive campaign. This awareness campaign is important for the public to understand how to access Aarogyasri services and avail free medical care through Dr. YSR Aarogyasri. There should also be active participation of Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) too,” stated the Chief Minister.
In the meeting, officials revealed that 1,42,34,464 new Dr. YSR Arogyasri health cards are being printed and the works are rapidly progressing, with distribution slated to commence on December 18. The Chief Minister stressed that all stakeholders, including CHOs, ANMs, ASHA workers, and MLAs, should actively participate in promoting awareness about availing the free medical care through Dr. YSR Aarogyasri.
Under the Jagananna Aarogya Suraksha program, officials reported quick progress, identifying 86,690 people in need of medical treatment. Of these, 73,602 people have been referred to YSR Aarogyasri empaneled hospitals, with 16,128 patients admitted for necessary medical interventions. Surgical procedures/treatments were given to 15,786 patients. The Chief Minister directed officials to re-examine those admitted as inpatients.
Eye treatments under the program have also made considerable headway, with 78,292 people identified and 13,614 already receiving cataract treatment. Additionally, 7,272 individuals with other eye-related issues have been treated, and 5,26,702 people have received spectacles.
The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of timely medications for patients identified under Jagananna Suraksha health camps and urged officials to ensure comprehensive monitoring. He further pushed for leveraging technology to streamline the process and make the Dr YSR Aarogyasri app accessible to all.
The Chief Minister announced the initiation of the Jagananna Arogya Suraksha Program-II second phase on January 1. This phase will include weekly health protection camps in rural areas, featuring necessary medical examinations with the participation of specialist doctors.
