Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) leaders issued an open letter to the Governor demanding an inquiry by the High Court sitting judge into the irregularities in the promotions of Osmania University (OU) professors, by organising a press conference on the premises of the Osmania Arts College on Tuesday.
ABVP State Joint Secretary Vidyanagar Vibhag Convenor, Prithvi Teja, sought to cancel the committees formed by the previous BRS government for the promotion of professors. He appealed to the the Governor to appoint a sitting judge of the High Court to conduct an inquiry into the irregularities in the promotions of senior professors and take action against those responsible. It was requested that the qualified professors should be promoted as senior professors.
OU senior professors said it is a shame that the Vice-Chancellor (VC) is acting like a liar on the promotion irregularities. If a professor is eligible to become a senior professor, he has to publish 10 articles in journals from the University Grants Commission (UGC), but it has been ignored.
It has been alleged that the the senior professor has to pay lakhs of rupees to the VC in order to get promoted.
In this meeting, State Working Committee members Kamal Suresh, Suman Shankar, Aliveli Raju, Telangana State All Universities Co-Convenor Ganesh, University Secretary Parusuram, State Executive Member Drihan, University Vice-President Sai, student leaders Shiva, Sainath, Mani and others participated.
