Academic system should be free from politics: Lokesh

Minister for Education, Information Technology (IT) and Electronics Nara Lokesh, announced on Monday that the academic system should remain free from political influence. He unveiled the new academic calendar for school education, notably omitting the photos of the Chief Minister and the Education Minister, a departure from previous practices.
During a review meeting with senior officials of School Education at his Vundavalli residence in Amaravati, Lokesh stated that political interference in government educational institutions would not be tolerated. He also emphasized that textbooks and training materials for teachers and students should not feature political messages, photos, or colours associated with any political party.
Lokesh further stated that with the term of the school management committees ending in July, elections for these panels will be held in August.
He asserted that supervisory responsibilities for mid-day meals and campus amenities should be handed over to parents’ committees.
The Minister stressed the importance of improving toilet maintenance in government schools and directed officials to call for tenders for the necessary supplies. After a detailed review of the functioning of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) schools in the state, Lokesh announced that a new roadmap for these institutions would be released soon.
Lokesh also approved the filling of vacant teaching and non-teaching positions in Kasturba Gandhi Girls Schools and instructed officials to formulate appropriate guidelines.

Secretary of School Education Kona Sasidhar, Director Vijaya Ramaraju, and Project Director of Samagra Sikshana B Srinivasa Rao were present.
