Adequate security provided to Jagan: Home Minister Anitha

Must read

Home Minister V. Anitha has said that adequate security measures are in place for former chief minister Jagan Mohan Reddy. She questioned the necessity of 980 security personnel for a former CM and suggested that Jagan’s petition in the High Court for increased security and opposition status was politically motivated.
Speaking to the media at the party’s central office on Tuesday, the Home Minister highlighted a surge in complaints related to land grabbing, attacks, and illegal activities during the previous government. She noted that victims from Pulivendula were coming to the Praja Darbar to voice their grievances.
Addressing the media on Jagan’s High Court petition for security restoration, the Home Minister remarked, “980 security personnel is equivalent to the population of a small village. Jagan is asking for security on par with that of a village panchayat. The government is providing him security befitting a former CM. Filing a petition in court to seek such security is unjust and attempts to portray the government poorly.”
She further questioned Jagan’s renewed focus on the knife attack incident after five years, noting that he did not pursue the case while in office. “Despite multiple court summons, Jagan did not appear, which indicates a political drama. Additionally, for opposition status, a party must have at least 10 percent of the assembly seats,” she added.
On social media, Minister Nara Lokesh also commented on the security issue, questioning why Jagan feels insecure despite having Z+ security. Lokesh noted on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) that Jagan currently has 58 security guards and two escort teams, including a convoy with 10 armed guards and two state-of-the-art Land Cruiser bulletproof cars. He questioned the need for 986 security personnel under these conditions.
Lokesh’s remarks came after Jagan filed a case in the High Court on Monday, challenging the state government’s reduction of his Z+ category security.
