In a development benefiting the residents of North Andhra, Minister for Animal Husbandry Seediri Appalaraju has officially announced that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will initiate administrative operations from the port city of Visakhapatnam in the first week of December.
Appalaraju disclosed this during a media interaction on Sunday, emphasising that CM Jagan has designated Visakhapatnam as the State’s administrative capital as part of a broader initiative to decentralise governance.
The Minister underscored the longstanding aspiration of the people of North Andhra for Vizag to be the capital, echoing considerations made by past leaders half a century ago.
Appalaraju disclosed that CM Jagan Mohan Reddy, recognising the underdevelopment of Uttarandhra during his Padayatra, has chosen to foster the growth of Visakhapatnam as a crucial step in the decentralisation of governance. While facing legal challenges from opposition parties in the courts, CM Jagan is actively establishing operational offices for administrative functions and reviews, according to the minister.
The Minister criticised opposition political parties for spreading misinformation to mislead the public regarding Millennium Towers and Rushikonda Guest Houses.
Appalaraju questioned how leaders such as Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan could dictate terms to the people of Andhra while residing in Hyderabad. He remarked that the leaders of TDP and Jana Sena in Uttarandhra are leading a subservient existence.
On Thursday, Chief Secretary Dr. JS Jawahar Reddy issued Government Order No. 2283 for the provision of camp offices for senior functionaries, including ministers, at Millennium Towers A & B in Rishikonda. The Government Order stipulated the allocation of office accommodations at Millennium Towers-A & B to key departments for visits by the Chief Minister, Ministers, and senior Government officials involving overnight stays in Visakhapatnam for conducting periodic reviews and monitoring various welfare and development programmes implemented in the North Coastal districts.
The government has opted to utilise its own departmental buildings initially, with 2,27,287 square feet available for camp offices for senior functionaries (Ministers/Secretaries/Heads of Departments and their required staff). In cases where departmental office accommodations are unavailable, Millennium Towers-A & B in Rishikonda (1,75,516 square feet) can be prepared with minimal modifications. For the residences of senior functionaries, residential spaces identified within departmental buildings in Visakhapatnam will be utilized in the first instance, as needed.
Administration from Vizag soon
