Vijayawada’s Y Ishaan has entered the semi-finals of the All-India Tennis Association (AITA) Championship Series for under-14 and under-16 age groups, being conducted at the Star Tennis Academy at Nimanuru near Vijayawada.
The young player had won the under-14 boys singles title in the AITA Ranking Tennis Tournament that was held in New Delhi.
In AITA Championship Series, Ishaan won the two quarter-final matches in straight sets and entered the semi-finals in both age groups. The quarter-final matches were held on one side except for one or two matches. Y Ishaan, Fazal Ali, A Mithil, V Thanish, K Sanidhya, Prutha Rao, Joshita, and Nehal Maria entered the semis in the under-14 category. Meanwhile, D Abhiram, Meer Fazal, Y Ishaan, Mital, Rishita, VS Prasanna, T Hemaja Reddy and Kreethika entered the semis in the under-16 category.
The semi-final matches will take place on Thursday, while the finals and the prize distribution function will be organised on Friday, he said.
