Akshaya Tritiya: 156 Jains break year-long fast in grand celebration

The Jain Samaj, a community of Jains in Hyderabad, concluded the year-long special fasting initiation with the celebration of Akshaya Tritiya on Sunday. The event was attended by Jain gurus and witnessed 156 Jains who had been fasting for 13 months, breaking their fast by drinking sugarcane juice.

To mark the occasion, a grand rally was held from the Jain Mandir in the Sikh Village to the Classic Garden, demonstrating the unity of the Jains. Former Cantonment Board Vice-President Sada Keshav Reddy was the chief guest for the breaking the fast. He spoke about the great traditions practiced by the Jain community and expressed happiness and congratulations for the spiritual programmes of the Jain community.

The fasting was held under the auspices of the Jain Samaj and aimed to express the spiritual feelings of the Jain community. The Jains performed devotional programmes to remember Bhagavan Acharya, an important spiritual figure in Jainism.

During the welcome programme, Jain gurus gave prophecies to spread their blessings on the Jain community. The event was a joyous occasion for the community, and they celebrated the end of the fasting with great enthusiasm.

Speaking about the event, a spokesperson for the Jain Samaj said, “We are happy to have successfully completed the year-long fasting under the auspices of the Jain Samaj. It is a great moment for our community, and we thank everyone who supported us during this time.”

The event showcased the rich cultural heritage and traditions of the Jain community and highlighted the importance of fasting and spiritual devotion in Jainism. The Jain Samaj aims to continue organising such events in the future to promote the principles of Jainism and bring the community together.
