Algorand Foundation has announced a partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), an organisation focused on growing the ecosystem for the world’s most advanced, secure and reliable Layer-1 blockchain, to launch a Blockchain Academy at the Algorand Impact Summit on Friday.
The Algorand Blockchain Academy will be launched in 2024 and is designed to increase the capacity of UNDP staff through education and training in blockchain technology and its practical applications for sustainable development.
Focus areas of the programme include financial inclusion, supply chain transparency, real-world asset tokenization and digital identity. The curriculum includes recorded lectures, interactive workshops and hands-on assignments and is made available to 22,000+ UNDP employees in 170 countries and territories, as well as staff in other UN agencies.
AlgoBharat, an initiative of the Algorand Foundation, has reinforced its commitment to the Indian Web3 ecosystem with several high-profile announcements at the two-day event bringing together business leaders, policymakers, NGOs and developers to discuss how blockchain can help solve the world’s most intractable challenges.
The partnerships are an extension of Algorand’s vision to provide greater access to markets, capital and financial services by unlocking the power of blockchain technology, especially to disadvantaged sections of society with limited access to traditional banking infrastructure.
Stacey Warden, CEO of Algorand Foundation said, “India’s remarkable role in global technological advancement inspired us to establish a distinctive presence in the country. In just one year, our strategic collaborations with key players and innovative blockchain solutions have pioneered financial inclusion, potentially impacting millions of lives in underserved communities. As we contribute to the growth of the global Web3 ecosystem, our journey in India has just begun, with a lot of ground to cover.”
Blockchain technologies can bring about profound progress by providing greater access to markets, capital, and financial services. The Algorand Impact Summit is a testament to our belief in the Indian Web3 ecosystem, he added.
Algorand Foundation Vice-President and India Country Head Anil Kakani said, “Partnering with those who share our passion, we are keen to see a tangible impact on the ground in improving access to markets, capital and financial services.”
