All eyes are on the Councillors of the BRS and Congress parties, although it had lost all hopes on cross-voting in the Hyderabad local body MLC election being held on April 23, that is, on Wednesday.
The total votes in the Hyderabad local body MLC elections are 112. The BRS has 24 votes and Congress has 14 votes and the BJP has 24 votes, and the AIMIM has 50 votes. However, the AIMIM and the BJP are in the fray. The BJP needs BRS and Congress votes if it wants to win the Hyd local body MLC seat.

However, BRS Working President KT Ramarao announced that BRS corporators would not participate in the elections.

Meanwhile, the Hyderabad in-charge Minister Ponnam Prabhakar made it clear that the Congress would certainly participate in the elections and the Congress corporators would not cast their votes to the BJP. It means, that Congress councillors are going to vote for the MIM candidate.

However, BJP leaders have been stating that they are in touch with the corporators of the BRS and the Congress. The BJP leaders like G. Kishan Reddy and Sanjay exuded confidence that the BJP candidate would win the elections.

BJP leaders are asking the BRS and Congress councillors to participate in the elections and cast their vote following their conscience.

Here, the question is whether BRS councillors can participate in the elections defying the dictates of BRS Working President KT Rama Rao or not? Another question is whether Congress councillors would indulge in cross-voting or not.

There is no use even if all Congress Councillors engage in cross-voting and if all BRS Councillors boycott the elections and vote for the BJP candidate. The BJP candidate can win only if the BRS and Congress councillors vote for the BJP candidate.
