After appointing Jishnu Dev Varma, who is very loyal to the BJP leadership, particularly to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as the new Governor to the Telangana State, now all eyes are on the relationship between Governor Varma and Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy in the coming days. Political circles feel that the BJP-led Central government appointed Varma as a Governor of Telangana to strengthen the party in the State.
In the BRS regime, after appointing Tamilisai Soundararajan as the governor, the relations between chief Minister KCR and the governor were very critical. Both the chief minister and the governor were angry at each other. The governor created troubles to the BRS government. But now Chief Minister Revanth Reddy maintained cordial relations with governors Tamilisai Soundararajan and CP Radhakrishnan. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy may try to maintain cordial relations with new Governor Varma, who is taking charge on July 31. But the BJP high command may not keep quiet and try to create problems to the State government through the Governor like with Tamilisai in the past, the political observers opined. The ultimate goal of the BJP is to come to power in Telangana in the next Assembly elections. After becoming Chief Minister, Revanth Reddy got good response from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The reason for this was for defeating the BRS and KCR in the Assembly elections and Prime Minister Modi did not have any special affection towards Revanth Reddy. In the funds allocation to the Telangana State in the Central Budget proved that Prime Minister Modi is treating CM Revanth like he treated KCR in the past. CM Revanth also started serious criticism against PM Modi for not giving importance to Telangana State in the Union Budget. In the coming days the Congress and the BJP will increase the criticism against each other.
When CM Revanth makes criticism against PM Modi, the Governor automatically gets angry. This may lead to differences between the Governor and the Chief Minister. If CM Revanth wants to adjust with the Governor, the Congress high command may not agree. Moreover, the main Opposition BRS has branded CM Revanth as a BJP man because of his past political history. Under these circumstances, confrontation between the Governor and the Chief Minister may become inevitable like between KCR and Tamilisai in the past.
